Ana Reisens
Ana Reisens is an emerging poet and writer, and you can find her work in The Bombay Literary Magazine, The Dry River Review, and Channel, among many other places. She was a special mention for the 2023 Kari Ann Flickinger Biennial Memorial Literary Prize for a chapbook, and the winner of the 2020 Blue Earth Review poetry contest and the 2020 Barbara Mandigo Kelly Peace Poetry Award. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net.
For the past few years she has served as a poetry reader for The Mud Season Review, and she currently dedicates a great deal of time to the subject of creativity in her “other life” as a university professor. She’s passionate about helping poets find the best ways to bring their work to the world, whether that be through submitting to literary journals, sharing it on social media, or simply exploring the inspiring opportunities that are out there.
Ana was born in the United States but now lives in Spain, where she enjoys eating her way through the country and spending lots of time in nature.
At Ah – the Sea, Ana will be teaching The Poet’s Guide to Submitting to Literary Journals in May 2024. You can also check out and vote for her potential class Beyond Rupi Kaur: The Art and Strategy of Instagram Poetry. Finally, an interview with her can be found here: we talked about literary magazines, atypical poet career paths, Ana’s university course on creativity, poetry and social media, and living in Barcelona as an American.
