While I have taught general creative writing courses that included short stories and creative non-fiction essays, my writing expertise lies in poetry, specifically experimental poetry. While I can discuss rhyme and meter, I myself do not regularly write rhyming or otherwise formal poetry. I’m especially unfamiliar with genre fiction. My editorial experience was primarily in the field of education, working for a development house that produced textbook ancillaries, and later for a small academic press that produced course adoption books for schools of education. Both organizations were profit-driven and gave me a broad introduction to the realities and procedures of publishing, but neither had much to do with publishing fiction or poetry.
